Accessible Beach Track at Sentosa: A Practical Guide for Mobility-Friendly Beach Visits
Sentosa’s accessible beach track, located at Siloso beach, was introduced to bridge the gap between the promenade and the shoreline. The track is designed to allow wheelchair users, seniors, and families with mobility needs to experience the beach environment more independently.
Accessible beach track details
The accessible track at Siloso Beach is located at Emerald Pavilion. Originally launched as a trial in August 2024, the success of the initiative has seen the track extended. As of 2026, the track at Siloso Beach spans approximately 135 meters, providing a significantly longer path than its initial 23-meter pilot version.
Proximity to the water and user experience
The track extends deep into the beach, bringing users much closer to the shoreline. While the track itself stops just before the tide line to protect the material from salt and water damage, it places you in the heart of the beach action. For those who wish to go further and actually touch the water, this track serves as the perfect “launchpad” to transfer into a beach wheelchair (see the logistics section).

Practical visitor logistics
Sentosa has streamlined this process with several practical services.
Getting to Siloso Beach
Singapore’s public transport system extends directly to the island.
- Sentosa Express: From VivoCity (Level 3, Lobby L), take the monorail to Beach Station. The trains have dedicated wheelchair bays, and the stations are equipped with lifts.
- Public Bus: Board Bus 123, which is fully wheelchair-accessible, and alight at the Beach Station bus terminal.
- Internal Transport: While the standard open-air beach shuttles are not wheelchair-accessible, Sentosa provides a complimentary accessible van service. You can request this at the Beach Station Guest Services counter or by calling the Sentosa Rangers at 1800-RANGERS (7264377). They will transport you and your companions directly to the Emerald Pavilion or other points along Siloso Beach.
Beach wheelchair rentals
If you want to move from the accessible track into the water, a beach wheelchair is essential. These chairs feature large, low-pressure tires that glide over sand and can be submerged.
- Where to book: Beach wheelchairs are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure availability, it is highly recommended to reserve one in advance through the official Sentosa booking portal.
- Standard Wheelchairs: If you simply need a manual wheelchair to navigate the paved boardwalks, these can be rented at the Beach Station Guest Services counter for a $50 refundable deposit.
Best times to visit
The Singapore heat and humidity can be intense. To make your trip as comfortable as possible:
- Optimal hours: Aim for early mornings (9:00 AM to 11:00 AM) or late afternoons (after 4:30 PM). These times offer a more pleasant temperature and a better chance of catching the sea breeze without the midday sun.
- Avoid the rush: If your schedule allows, visit on a weekday. Weekends and public holidays see a significant increase in foot traffic, making the accessible tracks more congested.

Other accessible features around the beaches
If you prefer the slightly quieter, family-oriented vibe of Palawan Beach, you will find another accessible track there as well. Located near the Palawan Bus Stop and adjacent to FOC By The Beach, this 40-meter track offers a similar sturdy, slip-resistant surface. It is positioned perfectly for families who want to be near the Palawan Food Trucks or the famous suspension bridge area while maintaining easy access for wheelchairs and strollers.
Accessible amenities and rest stops
Sentosa’s beach clusters are dotted with “Restroom Clusters” that have been retrofitted for accessibility:
- Accessible toilets: You can find dedicated accessible restrooms at Siloso East, Central, and West, as well as Palawan East. These are equipped with wide swing doors (approx. 0.85m clearance) and sufficient internal turning space.
- Showers: Most shower facilities at Siloso (East, Central A, Central B, and West) offer step-free access. While they are not yet fully “specialized” medical-grade wheelchair showers, the lack of curbs makes them significantly easier to use for those with limited mobility.
- Rest stops: Most pavilions, such as the Sapphire and Emerald Pavilions, offer shaded, level seating areas that are perfect for taking a break from the sun without having to navigate away from the beachfront.

Beyond the sand: Accessible tours and trails
For visitors who want to see more of the island, several activities can be seamlessly paired with a beach visit:
- Sentosa Wheel Venture Tour: This is a first-of-its-kind, 5-hour tour designed and led by persons with disabilities. It follows a strictly accessible route covering Sentosa Nature Discovery, SkyHelix Sentosa, and an alfresco dinner at Palawan Beach. It’s a fantastic way to explore the island’s heights and nature trails with the confidence that every stop is barrier-free.
- Sentosa Sensoryscape: Located just a short distance from Beach Station, this is a 30,000-square-meter tactile walkway. It uses low-gradient ramps and lifts to connect the “upper” attractions of the island to the beaches. It is particularly stunning at night when the interactive light installations are active.
- Nature Discovery Boardwalks: If you enjoy the greenery, the boardwalks at Sentosa Nature Discovery are designed to be wheelchair-friendly, allowing you to move through the rainforest canopy and spot local wildlife without encountering steep stairs.
